Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Yisrael Technology LLC (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the VIA Transit mobile application and website (collectively, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service. Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of the Service.

2. Information We Collect

We may collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information: Your first name, last name, and email address when you create an account or sign in.
  • Transaction data: Records of passes, tickets, and wallet top-ups purchased through the Service, including amounts, dates, and fare product types.
  • Payment information: Payment processing is handled by Stripe, Inc. and Apple Pay. We do not store full card numbers or payment credentials on our servers. Stripe and Apple handle payment data according to their own privacy policies and PCI-DSS compliance.
  • Device information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for crash reporting and compatibility purposes.
  • Usage data: Features accessed, screens viewed, and actions taken within the app to improve the Service.
  • Location data: If you grant permission, approximate location is used to show nearby routes and stops. We do not store precise location history.
  • Support communications: Messages, emails, or other communications you send to our support team.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
  • Process ticket and pass purchases and manage your wallet balance
  • Send one-time login codes and transaction receipts to your email address
  • Respond to support requests and troubleshoot issues
  • Detect, prevent, and address fraud or security incidents
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Improve the Service through anonymized usage analytics

4. Apple Pay

The VIA Transit app supports Apple Pay for in-app purchases. When you use Apple Pay, your payment credentials are managed entirely by Apple, Inc. and are never transmitted to or stored by Yisrael Technology LLC. Apple Pay transactions are subject to Apple's privacy policy, available at apple.com/legal/privacy.

5. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: Third-party vendors that assist in operating the Service, including Stripe (payments), Resend (transactional email), Twilio (SMS notifications), and Google Firebase (push notifications). These parties are contractually obligated to protect your data.
  • Transit agencies: Aggregated, anonymized ridership data may be shared with the transit agency operating the Service for planning and compliance purposes.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
  • Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account and transaction data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Section 8).

7. Security

We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. All data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted using TLS. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and personal data. You can do this in the app under Account → Delete Account, or by emailing support@yisraeltech.com.
  • Opt-out of notifications: You can disable push notifications and email alerts in the app Settings at any time.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
